I have had the same fedora for just over two years now. On field trips it gets quite dirty, both with soil and with sweat and other grime. I use a soft brush, like a hat brush you find at a hat store for regular lint cleaning. I wet this and use a mild soap like Ivory. I carefully soap the effected parts and rinse. The hat will probably get quite wet so BE CAREFUL! It might shrink. Mine, thankfully, has never shrunk during cleaning or regular rain drenching. My hatmaker approves of using a soap like Ivory to clean the hat. I guess it depends on what type of "soiling" is on the hat. Mud should just rinse off. Sweat stains can be a little trickier and require a little work. I have stained my ribbon all the way thorugh so it just looks dark all over. Now I don't have to worry about it. Hope it works out.

Regards,

Don
