: : Hi, so this has been something I've been wondering about for a while - when Belloq and Marion are getting pissed in the tent, what are they drinking? Marion asks about it and Belloq says he ggrew up with it, it's his family label - but it's a clear liquid so I've ruled out wines and cognacs.

: : I'm sure one of you forum-goers knows, what is it?

: He was French, so maybe white wine? Not very strong, though. But then this was the 30's, so what about absinth? It was still widely available (read Hemingway), and it sure had a kick. But when mixed properly, it turned milky. If not mixed, it is clear but hard to drink. And it almost always came from France.

A always thought it could have been vermouth, although it is usually not that strong. Yet the French were quite fond of it and back then it was still made from wormwood which was toxic and gave it some extra kick! Maybe it was just schnapps... Fall Guy
