DVD is same size as CD

In my post, I used a DVD as a standard, but maybe that's too cutting edge. DVD's are identical in size to CD's They even look the same, like shiny iridescent discs. Records, on the other hand, are big black discs with grooves etched in them, and a little hole in the middle. Come on, am I that old? CDs haven't been standard that long have they? Ten years, maybe...
