: Hey guys,

: What are some movies, TV shows, or literature that Indy was inspired by or the Indy genre has inspired? I seem to see the leather jacket, the fedora, and the gun and holster in many movies and TV shows set in deserts, jungles, and outback environments.

: My list includes: Treasure of the Sierra Madre (film)
: Romancing the Stone (film)
: King Solomons Mines (film)
: Only Angels have Wings (film)
: The Mummy (film)

: Tales of the Gold Monkey (TV)
: The Lost World (TV)
: The Simpsons (TV)

: Please post your responses of films and shows I have not listed as I am interested in viewing any shows and films that include elements of the Indy style costume (fedora, hat, leather jacket, khaki bush clothing, etc). I want to see where Mr. Lucas and Mr. Spielberg got their ideas for the character and costume.

: Thanks,
: Larry

I'd recommend "The English Patient" and "The End of the Affair". They are both excellent movies (even though not in the Indy genre) and you'll definitely get the fedoras (in both) and waist-length leather jackets (Patient).
