Good point,maybe he just wears that grey fedora on with his suit(and maybe he lost it sometime before LC?),he only wears the grey fedora with his suit(we only see it 2 times and he's wearing the same suit.)and/or on special occasions. Ok,so maybe he had somewhere to store his brown fedora without it getting crushed or maybe he mailed the fedora to the hotel where he was staying(if he was staying in a hotel?{i dont have the Raiders novel so i cant say if he did stay in a hotel.).

I dont think he would've mailed the fedora to Nepal(it would've taken to long to get there.)
