I bought my first whip today,

I bought a whip today. The photo is from e-bay. Its nearly the same as that one. It isnt a David Morgan, but it isnt too bad to start. I have the feeling it's a bit short, it may be 4 feet. Is that too short for learning how to use it? It's great as a collectible, but i would like to learn how to crack it. Also, where can I find websites with instructions on cracking whips?
