Also, browse the CD (or the floppy) in Windows Explorer and launch the application helpme.exe
(or type atlantis help in the MS-DOS prompt, after you have changed in the correct directory)

: try shutting off all sound. select none for your sound card. if it works now, then you know that it is your sound card. by the way, what brand is your soundcard? often times a sound card that is not made by creative labs (the soundblaster people) isn't fully compatible with older DOS-based games. but for now, just try shutting off the sound, if this works, post a message back up.
