: Hi Guys,

: I want to scotchgard my Peters Bros. hat. which kind should I use? The "repels stains and spills" or the "repels rain and moisture".

: To make matters worse, 3m (the makers of scotchgard) do not recommend using it! I think they just didn't really understand what I was talking about, as Steve has said that he always treats his hats.

: So Steve, or anybody else, any recommendations? Any problems with colorfastness? Anything else to worry about?

: Thanks,

: John D

Well, not to add anymore confusion to the mix than necessary (ah, why not? (grins)) what I usually use is a light misting of Scotchgard "outdoor upholstery" spray. It's in the green can, and is more for out door gear such as hats and coats than the regular Scotch gard in the red can. I hadn't heard about 3M pulling it off the shelves, though. Guess I'll have to find a new drug of choice now. (grins) Regards. Michaleson
