Then you are on that beach and your best friends are ripped apart. How can any of us truly understand what the young men of World War II went through? We live with all of our freedom and security because those men died for it. I'm 22 and I certainly never want to go to war. I couldn't imagine graduating from high school and going off to war. Everyone should see Private Ryan. You should sit through the brutality and the horror portrayed on the screen for the men who were actually there. Because you can be sure that the real thing was far worse.
