American bullwhips are known for their short handles, They perform a bit differently than the stock whip as well. The longer handle bullwhips commonly called Australian bullwhips are more of a hybrid whip between the two. Hope this helps and good luck with your project.

I'd imagine they'd preform very differently than a stock whip. The only stock whip I still have (which happens to have been my first putting it at 22 years of age) has a handle which is just over 18 inches.

Hopefully the hardest part of this will be cutting the skin. Yeah right.
