I tried a .455 cartridge and a .45 Autorim in my Webley, and either fits the bore equally well. The .45 case is somewhat longer, but the bullet is shorter, so the overall length is about the same. Since my Webley has been converted to take .45 ACP ammo, the .455 is too far away from the hammer and there is too much space at the rear of the case. All the conversion involved was milling a small amount off the rear of the cylinder.
