: Would I be correct in thinking that Raiders was set in 1936..? Then why would a Fabrique National Hi-Power P-35 not be correct for the period...? Wouldn't the '35 refer to the year...? He was, after all a Belgian soldier, and could have become attached to their issue weapons. I think that Browning himself died in 1926, so possibly it's an even earlier model FN pistol on the same design...?

: Any thoughts...?

: Tim...

You're more than correct in the 1936 date, as that is what is told us at the beginning of the movie. The P-35 was not issued to the Belgium army until 1935. The fact that it found it's way into the civilian market so soon is pretty hard to believe, but it could have happened, but Indy would not have had one issued to him, as he was out of the Belgium army almost 20 prior to the issue of the Browning. Rumor has it that Indy could have obtained through his travels in Europe just prior to the Raiders story, and so could have picked one up through his wheeling and dealings. It's all theory though. But the bottom lineis that it was possible for Indy to have had one based on the time period. It works a whole lot better than the German weapons that appeared later in the movie that hadn't even been invented yet! Regards. Michaelson
