Hola,
In response to your question below, 2.5 Y refers to one page of a related range of hues in something called a Munsell Color Book.
The book is a standard color reference used by archaeologists, geologists, and others with which to accurately compare soil colors.
Each of the 10 or 15 pages has about 20 or 25 standardized color chips labeled by a sort of grid system; thus, 10YR 2/1 refers to the 10 Y(ellow) R(ed) page, and the first color chip in the second column (or is it the second chip in the first column... don't have one in front of me...). Each color has a "verbal description" with it; 10YR2/1 happens to be black.
Munsell also produces a plant color book, in which all the chips are different greens and yellows (the soils book is mostly browns, yellows, and reds).
They're handy books for comparing standardized colors; they're also about a hundred bucks apiece...
Happy painting,
Inby
