Well spoken, and a very good analogy (nm)

: :The jacket situation and the growing number of Indy fans brings to mind the growing sport of cowboy action shooting. In 1941 most of Colt's tooling for the Single Action Army revolver was worn out, there was a war on, and "nobody bought those ol'hoglegs nowdays" anyhow. Then came the 1950's. Westerns occupied the top ten on TV and people wanted "Cowboy" guns. The old junkers that sold for $5.00 to $10.00, all of a sudden sold for $75.00 to $100.00(remember, these were 1950's dollars). Now Colt, hearing the ringing of bells(cash registers), re-introduced the SAA at a cost of $125.00, and sold a bunch of them. Of course the "second generation" was a bit different, due to new tooling, but it was a Colt! Then came the "third generation", which many folks refer to as the "turd generation". It just wasn't the same! Then along came the sport of "Cowboy Action Shooting" and there was a huge demand for cowboy guns. With 2nd gen. Colts going for over $1000.00 when the sport started, and double that now, replicas started coming out of Italy, some OK, some really bad. Now, some of the shooters(fans)have found one or two gunmakers that would listen and take the time to do the guns right. Now we have a true first generation Colt, not made by Colt, while the Colt is different from the 1873-1941 "original". Sound familiar? We fans now have a jacket modeled from a documented original, all measurements taken by someone with an auditing background, and some people are complaining?? The old Italian "Colt" replicas are still out there and going strong, but new buyers and people looking to up-grade now have the "real" one available to them. We are in the same situation, and it should bring a smile to our collective faces. Sorry about going so long, but thanks for reading,Dr.Brody
