First of all, I would have posted this on the IndyGear forum, but not
too many people go there! :(

My Wested's quality:
It's NOT made in a cheap or sloppy way, fit and finish are
exceptional. I also LOVE the THIN leather, because I live in a warm
climate and I don't like heavy jackets. I could always wear something
under it. About the Wested's smell: I have heard that this is due to a
quick tanning job. This is a matter of concern!

The Wested's accuracy:
I don't have a big problem with this. However, I do believe that there
is room for improvement. The bi-swing pleats and the collar being the
most obvious shortcomings. The seams on the back of mine line up
pretty well. As for the D-rings, I replaced them with some nice
rectangular ones...

Authenticity:
20 years have passed. Patterns have been lost (most likely) and found
(hopefully) or recreated. Patterson is full of zeal for the cause and
I am certain that the new jacket is the ultimate Indy jacket. All the
critical points have been addressed, and the functionality has been
improved (underarm gussets).

The price:
The Wested is extremely inexpensive. I fact, I wonder how they can
sell it for that price at all! The FS jacket's price still seems fair
compared to regular flight jackets, but I must hold one in my own
hands before I am willing to say more.

The new jacket: I MUST HAVE IT!

PPS: Distressing? Jeez, just wear the damn thing outside your backyard
and crawl through some bushes; maybe fall down a ravine (not all the
way, STEVE!) or just go rough-housing in the dust. :) But remember:
It's still not going to look as "good" as a professionally distressed
movie jacket. You may get holes or tear a seam! For the perfect look
(I call it evenly unevenly distressed) you will have to do what MK did
(looks most excellent!) and live with the possible cosequenc
