There are indeed hand warmer pockets located at the sides, behind the front pockets. The straps are usually plenty long, but strangely enough, I NEVER had to tuck mine into the pockets. The straps on the original jacket were much shorter, so they had no problem regarding the length sticking out like they currently do. Regards. Michaelson
