And I know Indy's gone after more artifacts than the movies have shown; I'm just talking about his on-screen track record, as we've been permitted to see it.

I just think it's personally more fun if Indy isn't known and revered by everyone in his world, like almost every other fictional character seems to be in theirs. Anybody remember that Roger Moore BOND film where the tobacco-chewing Southern sheriff turns to Moore and says "Ain't you that famous secret agent, James Bond?" There's some thinking on the screenwriter's part, hunh? "Famous secret agent"
