There was a cut scene, just not where I though it might be. And it was his gun. And, now that I think about, the Hi-Power was introduced in 1935 (i.e. P-35). If Indy had one in 1936, which is unlikely, it would have not have been Nazi made, as the Nazi's would not yet have invaded and taken over the factory wher it was made as I had initially thought.
