: Fedora, tell me about these powders. I have a Miller hat and have worn it out in the rain a few times (under an umbrella), but it has gotten wet. It hasn't bleed yet. Will it? What effect will it have? Thanks -DF

I don't know for certain if the Miller has the color blending powders that is pretty common in dress hats. I do know for sure that the Akubra and PB don't. My Stetsons and Custom Hatter fedora does have it. Basically, from my understanding, this colored powder is used to blend in with the dyed color to give the finish an unmottled look. The hat would have to get pretty wet in order for these to start to wash out. This happened to several of my hats in the past, especially the ones I used for backpacking trips. Doesn't look bad, but you can tell when the powder is gone. Joe jr. tells me that only his light colored cowboy hats has the powder in them. Regards, Fedora
