: I AM NOT GOING TO SEE SAVING PRIVATE RYAN BECAUSE IT IS TOOOOOOOO VIOLENT AND I THINK THAT MATT DAMON AND HIS FRIEND BEN AFFLECK ARE TRYING TO GET ALL THE ATTENTION AWAY FROM LEONARDO DICAPRIO. BILLIONS OF GIRLS LOVE LEO. HE STOLE MILLIONS OF FANS HEARTS AWAY FROM HIS INCREDIBLE PERFOMANCE IN TITANIC (THE #1 MOVIE IN THIS PLANET) SAVING PRIVATE RYAN SUCKS AND MY GRANDPA WAS IN WWII AND I BELIEVE WHAT MY MOM SAYS. HE WAS PROTECTING HIS COUNTRY. BUT THE MOVIE SAVING PRIVATE RYAN HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE REAL THING! I DONT THINK IT SHOULD GET AND NOMINATIONS FOR ANY KIND OF AWARD. THE MOVIE TITANIC CAPTURED PEOPLES HEARTS. SAVING PRIVATE RYAN IS GOING TO CAPTURE NIGHTMARES. DONT SEE IT IF YOU DONT WANT TO WAKE UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. FOR ONE THING MY ENTIRE FAMILY FROM DIFFERENT STATES AGREED NOT TO SEE SAVING PRIVATE RYAN!!

Y'know, it's absolutely sickening that a person who hasn't had to fight for their freedom could say something like that about what should have been #1 on the AFI's top movie list. It shows great disrespect to the men who gave their lives for us. I really hope that she realizes that those people died, DIED so that WE can be free. Do you realize that, girl? They died for US! That's one hell of a lot more powerful and worthy of recognition than some sappy, cliched, typical Hollywood romance that we've seen ten thousand varations of.

I realize that she's pretty young (at least, I HOPE that she's pretty young), but I'm only fourteen, and even I can realize that the sheer hell that those great men went through is something that should remembered and glorified until the end of our Nation. She merely views the film as competition for Titanic, and the actors as competition for Leonardo Dicaprio. And, on the side, she's decided that it's too violent without even seeing it. I hope that she realizes that this really happened! Those men actually fought in that! They rushed out on that beach and were slaughtered. But they fought, and they died, yes, died GRAPHICALLY, because they wanted their families, and their children, and their grand children to have a future. And here you are, saying that we shouldn't realistically represent what they went through. Why the hell not? If they can actually experience that, fight in that, die in that, you should at least be able to stomach watching it!

As an American citizen, I think you owe all veterans a followup letter of apology for the tasteless remarks that you have posted onto this message board. I would also suggest viewing the movie at your first available oppurtunity. Your parents should let you watch it. They should actually MAKE you watch it. Maybe it'll give you an idea about what true suffering and sacrifice are all about. It certianly did that for me.
