Kurt Russell would be good in my opinion.

He seems good at portraying dry characters who try to put across an air of being tough, rugged and always in control of difficult situations, while at the same time revealing signs of vulnerability and self-doubt. I am thinking particularly of his roles in John Carpenter films. While I like the comic talents of Bruce Campbell also, I think that his acting style isn't subtle enough to pull off the more serious side to Indy.
