Yes, cotton linings are better for warmer climates and vice versa. However, I chose the satin lining due to the fact that if you wear long sleeve cotton shirts with a cotton jacket lining, it tends to bunch up your shirt sleeves. With the satin lining, the jacket slips on nicely.

On the other hand, from what I understand the cotton lining is also more durable with regards to extensive wearing of the jacket over time. Yet, I just had the satin lining of my 12 year old A2 replaced for the first time.
