Yes, I did think that one of the most exciting parts was the desert chase. I even liked the music. You see, I avoided watching the opening of the ark scene since I saw it as a child (about ten years ago) for being afraid of the spirits and the Nazis' deaths. When I watched the whole thing over recently, I was VERY impressed with the special effects that I watched the last part over and over and over... But I wouldn't totally disregard the truck sequence. Do tell me, though, which was your favorite Nazi death: Deitrich, Toht, or Belloq?
