I'm thinking it may just be that the 12' is heavier, and has stretched the thong more where it meets the handle, making it coil tighter. Make sense? I don't know either :-)

My Allen is a 12'. I can get it to coil up pretty tight. It will stay that way for a while in the holder. I know I've probably asked you this before, but do you think a 10' is really worth spending $580.
