Working around "academics" all day (yes, rocket scientists ARE as strange as you've heard!) you have to factor in the fact that their sphere of interests are pretty narrow. Being "expert" in a particular field this is understandable, as they put all their energies into a specific topic. They're aware of things going on around them, but not in the realistic form of actual understanding as we know it. When face to face with something new, it's actually amusing to watch them, as they DO act like a young child just finding something new and wonderful that you and I take for granted. I've seen happen it over and over in my work, and everytime it happens I think of Henry Jones Sr, and how well Lucas and co. captured this in his character. Regards. Michaelson


: Why was Indy's dad so shocked when Indy shot the Nazis in the Castle Brunwald? Wouldn't Indy's dad have known Indy fought in wars when he was younger? The thought of his son shotting an enemy in war time shouldn't have been a big shocker.
