He got it from when he fell in the "house of reptiles" train car in the beginning of LC, he could handle 1 snake but a box full of (i'm assuming poisonous) snakes, freaked him out. Plus that gigantic snake in the water tank that popped up in from of his face probably made him mess himself, as well as mess his life up for good.
