Don't sweat the costume contest loss too much. I entered the contest at my office and the person coordinating it asked me who I was supposed to be.(?!?) I didn't win either (lost to someone in a homemade scarecrow costume), but I did get some nice compliments. It was enough fun just being able to wear the complete get up after piecing it together over the years.
