A Marian story (or any other character) would actually be okay because it would deepen the characterization and make them more interesting when viewing the films with Ford in them. You could have Sallah star in a film in which he helps work on a new Egyptian archaelogical dig and uncovers some strange new artifact, a film about Short Round after he grew up and (who knows?) became an adventurous archaeologist himself. The possibilities are completely endless!
