Petersham from Delaney PLEASE READ!

For anyone that ordered the petersham ribbon from Catherine Delaney in London, be careful as some of the ribbon dye may bleed! I did some experimenting on the ribbon last week (I've had it for a while now but haven't put it on either of my hats). I put it in cold tap water to see if I could soften it up and the dye bled. Thank god I hadn't put it on one of my hats! The quality of the weave of this ribbon is still top notch, so if you bought some, don't worry-once you rinse the rest of the dye out of it, it is useable as is or you can try a more colorfast permanent dye. This is also not to discourage anyone from ordering her ribbon. I am curious about why it bled-especially in cold water! I've sent it to a hatter here in the states to "experiement" more fully with some colorfast dyes.
