It's true that Star Wars always gets top billing when people discuss George Lucas' movies, but I'd have to say that both can exist without fans having to choose which ones they prefer. You're right on all counts about Raiders being as close to perfect as an adventure movie can get, and the dialog in SW was a tad on the melodramatic side at times. But when I watch SW, I'm in a different mindset than I am in when I put Raiders into the VCR. I think I like both trilogies about equal. Of course, when put on the spot, I'll claim that Indy is my favorite. But that's just my two cents...
