Just to broaden the opinion....I wear a 7 1/8 and Joe made me a hat with a pre-bashed 6 inch crown and all-the-way-around 2 3/4`s brim and let me tell you, it is so perfect that its scary. I can`t take my eyes off my hat and from any and every angle, in any light, in any condition, it looks exactly like the hat in the Ravenwood Bar.
I really think its all a matter of taste and what your face is shaped like. A 6 inch crown may not look right on other 7 1/8 heads as it would on others. Tell joe what your face shape and head shape is like and he may be able to better narrow down what your after. Good luck-Hector
