I had given Joe Peters Jr. what I thought were slightly larger than the represented HJ dimensions in order to get the proportion right for my own large noggin (7 5/8). See Lugers fedora page. This is what you'll find.
1. Color: Dark Brown
2. Crown: No Taper ~5.5" Tall
3. Brim: 2.5"~2.75" Raw Edge
4. hatband: 1.5" Darker Brown
So I was surprised to find I had just about nailed the HJ's dimensions on my PB fedora. The responses for the most part validate the letter Patterson provided. Go figure.
