I just recieved this email from Star Wares regarding the whip(btw- Star Wares is a well established prop dealer in the hobby)-

The whip is legit, but I never said it came from Lucas himself. Simon received the whip as a gift for supplying the production with his services. I sold it back in 1993, I believe. I know now, that my customer needs the cash and is liquidating all his collectibles he bought from me. Price is really good, as I know he paid over $10K for it from me.
