I saw that picture a long time ago. Wacky premise, I must say.
The silent (first) film version of "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" is very fun, and has some pioneering underwater cinematography.
It's available on videotape from one of those clearinghouse distributors.
I've got a copy at home, but can't recall the dist. company name now.
Speaking of Verne, the film version of his "Master of the World" (and, implicitly, "Robur the Conquerer"), starring Vince Price and Cliff Robertson has an interesting "ship" in it.
The old picture "49th Parallel" has some good sub scenes.
Have to admit that I'm a sucker for Ub Iwerks Disneyfied "Nautilus" design.
Every sub should have a picture window.
