By thinner, I take it that you mean the width of the strap. The thickness of the stap is greater than the Wested strap. The width of the strap is about the same as the Wested and probably very close to the strap used in Raiders. The jacket you see pictured on FS's web site may be larger than the one in the movie which could account for the strap appearing smaller. I can also tell that this picture is of an older prototype as the stiching around the reciever stap is a square box design. On the actual expedition jacket, the stiching is two bars. As far as how pointy the end of the strap is, the expedition has much more taper than the Wested and it may be sharper than the movie. It does make it easier to thread through the rectangular rings.
