Prince pays tribute to Raiders in Purple Rain

Prince dons a brown Indy like fedora, in the last minutes of Purple Rain. While performing his last number in the films finale -"I'm a Star" (or whatever it's called) he dissappears behind the speakers, then slowly emerges over the tops, like Indy peering over the fifty gallon drums at the flying wing- now with this hat on- he then proceeds to jump up on top and lash the audience with an imaginary whip- 9 lashes- (This is a stupid thing to say, but this corresponds to the 9 Raiders lashes- ONE Whips the gun out of Baranca's hand TWO- Whips the whip around the tree limb to swing over the pit THREE- Grabs and jerks the whip so violently, as the sliding stone door is decending, that it ammounts to a lash. FOUR thru EIGHT-in the Cairo market fight, Indy flicks his whip 5 times- The first and last time no crack is heard, but we see it. The seventh lash is only heard as the camera is on Marion. NINE- Indy lashes the statue to pull himself up it in the well of souls.) After prince is finished whipping up the crowd, he proceeds to perform his biggest stunt in the film, a-la Raiders, as he jups off the 6 foot speaker cabinet on to the stage (about the some distance Indy went off the top of the flying wing)--This hat is momentarilly seen earlyer in the film being worn by his bass player. This is why the hat looks too big for little Prince. In that scene, you can see that it has the Raiders pinch and the brim snaps up in back and slopes down in front, but there is a decorative ribbon on it that hangs off the back. When Prince is wearing it, it apears to have an Indy style ribbon.
