Yeah it's always a pleasure to see it on the big screen. The film scuffs and sound pops are just a huge distraction though to the flow of the film.

The theater I saw it in runs foreign films, some classic movies and independent films that no one has ever heard of. This was my first trip there. So I'm not sure if this happens with all of their films. I doubt it. I'll have to make a couple of trips to judge then I'll make the suggestion about their prints. You'd think they would screen it first to check the quality. I wouldn't have bothered showing it if I was the theater owner. I would want people's experience to be the best that it could be. I would just try and get a better print of it.

But I do tip my hat to the theater owners because they were swift to getting the film back up and running once it broke. It didn't take them five minutes to get it going again.

: Hey:
: Sorry to hear your experience was so awful!
: I think the problem is that there are many 16 mm prints of "Raiders" floating around, getting run through different dirty projectors and before you know it they look like garbage...
: I'm not so sure this was allowed to happen with "Star Wars..." I think Lucasfilm kept a pretty tight lease on any prints.

: Maybe what you could do is suggest to the theatre owner(s) that if they are going to show "classic" movies then they should either clean their equipment, clean their prints or show them for free.

: I saw a god-awful print of "Raiders" about 2 years ago and my experience was the same as yours...but it was still sweet to see it on the "big" screen huh?
: Cheers,
: Sean
