I kinda think the hat is probably 5 inches tall at the sides, with the bashes in place. The brim is dimensionally cut, and you are in the ballpark on the size. Some of the hats may have had a 2 7/8 brim, at least on the front and back. I think the sides of the hat may have varied too, as I recall a scene or two where the sides looked really narrow.
