Indy's character right than to capture the proper "feel." I must admit that it's a close race between " the Seven Veils" and "Philosopher's Stone." There's something I don't like about MacGregor's pacing in the action sequences... they drag, or lack suspense, or.. hmm, something... Hard to put my finger on it.. MacGregor's books (at least the first 4 or 5) all ended the same way: Indy is "rescued" by some type of spirit or guardian (Noah or merlin or the Eagle, etc). This does NOT happen in the movies.. Though there may be some type of supernatural forces guiding Indy along, they are not necessarily protecting him and coddling him.. I like to think that Indy gets out of the situations that he finds himself in by being resourceful and lucky, not by being "chosen" or "favored"... That sentiment, I believe, is shared by Mr. McCoy...
