Part of the problem in trying to duplicate an item from the movies is what scene is the item you're interested in duplicating? The movie industry actually can have up to several dozen hats, jackets, etc.. for a particular character. Certain items will be "aged" or "damaged" for that particular scene. Plus if the item is actually damaged or lost during a scene and a retake is required, wardrobe just trots out another one. For a good example of this, for anyone who owns the special edition Terminator 2 DVD, go to the wadrobe selection of the extras disk. T2 had over 3 dozen leather jackets for Arnie. Some were with bullet holes. Some were "aged". Plus you needed matching jackets for the stunt doubles, and even more for the special effects "robots". That is why, when you order a hat from Peters Brothers, they ask you what particular scene you're requesting. Honestly, if you could get hold of the costumer for Raiders, you'll probably find out they had at least a dozen similar hats. (one interesting exception to this was the Clint Eastwood "spagetti western" outfit. In interviews with Mr. Eastwood, he stated that he found that outfit in old pawn shops, and had to take it home with him after each day's shootng, because they just couldn't afford to lose it. Must have been real hell shooting on a budget like that compared to today's blockbusters)
