: : It is the same felt, without the stiffener that Joe is so fond of. Patterson's PB fedora didn't look any thicker then my Miller. The stiffener is the culprit. PeterBros makes a lot of western hats. I assume that stiff is popular with cowboys. I will post a review when it arrives.

:
: I measured my Miller once and the brim is about 1/16 inch thick while my PB brim is about 1/8 inch thick. I don't much care for stiffener in fedoras and my PB has lost all the stiffener through wear and the elements. It's been rained on quite a bit. It still looks great and holds its shape like the day I got it. I don't think you'll miss the
: stiffener at all. The Peters Brothers is THE hat to beat for the "Raiders" look. You fix it the way you like and it'll stay that way forever.
: cheers,

See, I guess it's just me, but I don't want my hat to stay the same way all the time. I like the different looks so much, and can't decide exactly how I want my hat to look for good, so I like a pliable crown that "molds" and crushes a bit. So the PB is thicker felt, eh? That's not good. That right there loses the authentic Raiders look for me. I was just watching the Making of Raiders today and it hit me just how thin the felt is in those hats used in Raiders. Also, in the scene where Ford is laying on the ground preparing for his "behind-truck-dragging," I compared my HJ fedora side profile with the hat on his head and the height is dead on accurate. I guess I am still an HJ supporter at heart for all of these reasons...
