: Actually, that's one of the reasons we (men) no longer wear fedoras and other more formal styles of hats: constantly putting them on and taking them off while getting into and out of cars became too much of a pain for people to put up with. Also, going from your front door to the heat and/or air-conditioned car and driving to the heated and/or air-conditioned office or store or whatever obviated much of the need for hats. A shame, really. They really help keep your head warm when it's cold, keep the sun off of your face in the summer, and they look so darn cool when you find the right one...
