Raiders hat question

I just took some Raiders pictures and using photoshop measured the ratios between the ribbon and the crown. I'm sure some of you have done this before. Well using 39mm as the ribbon width my measurements came to be the crown being about 4.5 inches in the middle and 4.75 on the sides. Something is wrong here, I did it like 5 times and every time I came up with those results. According to those results either the ribbon is bigger than 39mm or the hat is shorter than thought. Anyobdy have any ideas?
