Sounds like you got a pre-distressed jacket (?) If so, and you did research like you said you did, then you should know that the distressing affects the durability of the coat and is done for cosmetic, not practical, reasons. If this is the case, than sorry my friend, it's your own damn fault.

The best I can offer is to CALL (NOT E-MAIL)...maybe I should repeat that, CALL Wested and ask to speak with Peter, and let him know the trouble. The Peter I know will gladly help you out if you're polite and don't lose your temper. You only have one chance of making a first impression!
I know I sound preachy, but I'm curious if you've considered these possibilities.
