Well, in this case I think Michaelson is correct. It is probably an
allround holster that fits different models. Apart from
the Colt 1911 still some revolver models were issued. I was more or
less surprised when I heard that revolvers were still used until the
late 70s. Anyway, you have made a good deal there I guess. And as
you have to settle for an almost-copy of the holster in any case, the
history isn't really too important.
