: The loop width I'm speaking of is that the pants loops are made for a minimum of a 2 1/2" wide belt, which is NOT correct to 1930's pants, unless they're logger pants, and they had to be special ordered at that time. Regards. Michaelson
I think we can all agree that the pants are "based" on US army officer "pinks".The full trouser as opposed to riding breeches becomes authorised circa 1937.The earliest pair of "pinks"in my collection are made 01/04/38.The belt loops are exactly the same as the MBA trousers.I also have a pair of "mustard"shade enlisted mans pants from 1939 and the belt loops are again the same width.I also have several pair of Levis from the 30s.2 pair of cinch back jeans and 1 pair of corduroy"loggers"pants the belt lops are a uniform 2 inches on all 3 pairs.I wonder what sort of debate we would be having if they went with riding boots and breeches for Indy?
I 100% believe that the width of belt loops is correct for 30s work wear,i also 100% encourage healthy forum like this.
The belt loops are still to few,7 not 5 is needed.

: : : : For those that are interested in buying reasonably priced, authentic looking Indy pants -- go to www.llbean.com

: : : : LL Bean is always changing the colors of their pants but go with the Dress Chinos, natural fit, in the 'light brown' color (for the ToD and LC). If you are interested in the ROTLA look, go with the Year Round Wool Dress Pants in Taupe. They are a little more expensive but worth it!!

: : : ...of all the items out there, I have to believe the MOST original, right to the original pattern item out there is the MBA pants, as they have the one thing that I absolutely HATED during that time period incorporated into the original pattern. Remember Raiders was filmed in the late '70's. The pants were made from patterns used AT THAT TIME, and though correct in terms of pleat and such reflecting a 1930's mood, have those gosh awful wide belt loops, and are really tailored for the wide belts we wore in the 1970's. Now I love my MBA's, but have no warm and fuzzy feelings about the garbage we had to wear in the '70's (and I was there too). This feature is still incorporated in the currently available pants from Noel Howard, and that's why I personally believe they are indeed taken directly from the original patterns. Like I said, no big thing, just an passing thought. Regards. Michaelson
: : Sorry chaps, disagree i think the belt loops are spot on,i have pre-war US army service trouser as well as 30s denim and the belt loops are spot on.The one error with the MBA pants(both Raiders and Last Crusade type)is simple, not enough belt loops. The pants come with 5 loops but to be accurate they need 7.Check the Making of Raiders, when Harrison is walking around sans shirt(talking with Steve) you can see clearly that there is extra loops either side of the loop that is above the trousers rear central seem.
: : You can also count the belt loops in Temple when Indy snaps out of his hypnosis and hugs Shorty.
: : Maybe i am taking this to a new level.I am a huge fan of these trousers and mean no offence to the great folks at MBA.I own 2 Raiders pair and 1 Last Crusade pair. These trousers are amazing, they are comfortable in almost anu weather,i have worn them in a Japanese winter and 3 Melbourne summers(Damned hot here in summer).
: : I have added my own extra belt loops by taking some of the extra fabric from the cuffs.
