: : : I know this subject has been discussed before, but I couldn't find the thread in my quick glance through the Forum archives.

: : : How low should the sleeves on the Wested Jacket reach? I haven't had mine on at all this summer-except for trying it on when it arrived a couple of months ago. However, I just tried it on in anticipation of cool weather finally arriving.

: : : The sleeves seem longer than other jackets I own- they reach down to the topmost knuckle on my fingers. When my arms are hanging straight down, my thumbs almost disappear.

: : : Is this the common fit that others have observed?

: : : Thanks for the feedback.

: : : BMan

: : Yep, it's the same with my jacket. And also I'm quite sure that this is
: : totally okay. Just look at the beginning of Raiders where Indy holds
: : up this map. You'll notice the extreme length of the sleeves there as
: : well. The sleeves seem to be sewn on very strangely. On the one hand
: : they hang down quite a lot but once you extend your arms over your head
: : they slide up pretty much.

: when I am fitting my firefighters for new Turnouts I measure the sleeves from the center of the neck to the end of the wrist around the elbow with the arm flexed at a 90 degrees. I used this measure ment when ordering mu Wested and the measurement came out perfect. I am sure that a compentant leather taylor can shorten your sleeves for you or you can send your jacket back to Wested with the proper measure ment. Depending hou old you are you dont stop growing unitil 20 something you may want to wait. My 13 year old Daughter wants one but I am afraid to order one until she reaches most of her grouth.

: Hope this Helps

Very good point, Gary, I had forgotten the standard correct measurement "trick" about the 90 degree elbow bend for correct sleeve length. I tried mine on, and experienced the same thing. When the arm is at rest, the length is longer than usual, but on bending the arm, the length stays the correct length, which is how it should be. Thanks for reminding me. Regards. Michaelson
