: okay, I need help settling an argument between a friend and myself. I say the grail is made of wood, therefore making the entire part about Jesus being a carpenter make sense. She says it is made of clay because they were poor. Who is right?

According to the book "From Star Wars to Indiana Jones the best of the Lucasfilm archives" which is a collection of photos and information about the various props and costumes used in the two franchises. The Grail is described as a clay cup. The book also contains a very good photo of the Grail prop.

I think that the statement about the Grail being the "cup of a carpenter" refers to the fact a carpenter would not have a gold chalice, hence what Elsa says about the grail not being made of gold. But that's just my take on the subject.

Hope this helps.

Dan
