...that it was customary practice in movies to have "glamour" props and costumes for the main characters to use when necessary and then have several lower quality versions made for potentially damaging or distant shots. So I'd bet that most likely HF had at least 2 or 3 (maybe more 'cause he did do his fair share of boulder dodging and such) and there were a whole slew of them made for the stunt people. Meaning that those two scenes used the same hat but different ones were used in other HF closeup sequences. Just MHO, which in the end means nothing..
