Some of the Raiders hats look like they have the dimensional cut and others don't. It's obvious that there were almost as many hats used in filming as there were extras. Look at the scene in the old man's house in Cairo when he tells them about the headpiece--just before the monkey eats the poison date. There is a definite Jawa Trader-looking crappy little hat sitting on the table with Indy's whip. When people refer to "the Raiders hat" it is much too general. When they refer to "the idol scene hat" or "the Cairo street scene hat" they are much more on the mark. That movie was filmed way out of sequence, as all are, so there is no way one or even a few hats could've survived.

: What's the current conventional wisdom of the Raiders hat? Watched ROTLA Sat. night and now I'm pretty sure that it's a 2 7/8 brim, at least in front and may not be dimensionally cut on the sides; rather the upturn provides the effect.

: Just wondering what the collective thinks these days!
